Joe Worrall bids Rangers farewell as defender sends emotional message

Joe Worrall has paid tribute to Rangers as his Ibrox loan spell comes to an end.

The defender is set to return to Nottingham Forest after spending the season in the Scottish Premiership.

Worrall split opinion among Rangers fans who had grown to love the early season central defensive partnership between Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson.

The 21-year-old's arrival forced the Croat on to the bench but Steven Gerrard was clearly a huge fan.

Worrall made little secret of the fact that he was unlikely to extend his Ibrox stay beyond the end of the season, and has now bid an emotional farewell to the club on his official Twitter account.

He wrote: "I’d like to say a massive thank you to @RangersFC for letting me play for your great club this season.

"From the fans, staff/players and the city of Glasgow, it has been a fantastic experience and the club has a special place in my heart"

Worrall made 32 appearances over the campaign, scoring one goal in a 1-1 draw with Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

His departure leaves Rangers requiring extra cover at centre-back and they've made moves to sign Oldham's George Edmundson.

Reports in England claim the Latics rebuffed a £450,000 offer for the 21-year-old earlier this week.
