Joe Willock sends a message to Arsenal fans after signing new contract

Arsenal youngster Joe Willock has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium.

The club confirmed the deal on Thursday afternoon, and although it has not been announced, it is believed that the deal will run until the end of the 2022/23 season.

Willock has broken into the Arsenal first team this season, playing three of the four Premier League games before the international break.

The midfielder came through the youth ranks at the Emirates Stadium, impressing enough in the club's U23 side last season to be heavily involved during pre-season. After signing the deal, Willock spoke of fulfilling his dream of playing for the Gunners' first team .

The 20-year-old has now taken to his Instagram stories to share his journey from a youngster to a first team player at the club.

A succession of videos posted show Willock as a child playing football in an Arsenal shirt through to him playing during pre-season for the Gunners.

The midfielder then posted a photo of him signing the new deal, with a caption that reads:

"Come a long way and still a long way to go, thanks for your messages."

Although Willock was an unused substitute for the last Premier League outing against Tottenham before the international break, the player will be hoping to celebrate the new contract by making just his fourth Arsenal appearance when the Gunners take on Watford at Vicarage Road on Sunday.
