Joe Willock's two-word Instagram message with Arsenal set to complete £25m summer transfer

Joe Willock has broken his silence after Arsenal agreed a deal with Newcastle United.

Well, sort of. The 21-year-old has been the subject of plenty of transfer speculation all summer following a fine end to last season when he was on loan with the Magpies and netted in each of his final seven Premier League games.

As a result, it was no surprise that Steve Bruce has been keen to bring Willock back for another spell at St James' Park - but this time on a permanent basis.

However, much has depended on Arsenal's plans for the midfielder, especially as Mikel Arteta could do with more goals from the middle of the park.

But after leaving Willock out of the Gunners' final pre-season friendly against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, it felt like the writing was on the wall.

And it turned out to be the case.

As reported by football.london on Sunday evening, Arsenal and Newcastle have reached an agreement over the transfer of the central midfielder.

The final fee is expected to reach £25million inclusive of add-ons, while football.london has learned that a sell-on clause will also be inserted into the deal.

With that said, Willock has been rather quiet about all the speculation regarding his future. Until now, as two days since a fee for his services was agreed, he has been active on social media.

As seen in the Instagram post above, Willock has uploaded an image of him in an Arsenal training session with a two-word message that reads: "New limits".

Of course, this doesn't really confirm anything, but the hourglass emoji would suggest that some sort of movement is imminent.

According to ChronicleLive, there is still been work to do when it comes to finalising this deal as personal terms need to be agreed and Willock needs to complete a medical.

Bruce will be hopeful of having the midfielder available for Newcastle's opening game of the season against West Ham United on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will receive a welcome transfer windfall that could be used to fund a deal for Arteta's next summer signing amid links to the likes of Aaron Ramsdale, James Maddison and Lautaro Martinez.
