Mikel Arteta’s headache over the future of midfielder Joe Willock appears to be getting even more severe with the Arsenal man having been handed even more recognition.
The Gunners' youngster was in exhilarating form on-loan with Newcastle United throughout the second portion of the season.
After joining the club in the January transfer window on a temporary basis, he proved a terrific arrival, netting an outstanding eight goals in just 14 Premier League games.
Willock was consistently excellent for the Magpies and he rounded off his season by scoring in seven consecutive league appearances, form that has seen him named the EA Sports Premier League Player of the Month for May.
He faced tough competition to claim the award, with Arsenal teammate Nicolas Pepe also being nominated.
However, the youngster’s excellent goalscoring form and contribution for Newcastle has seen him claim the gong.
The recognition only makes Arteta’s decision over the 21-year-old’s future even more difficult.
Due to his displays for the Magpies, there have been shouts from some corners for Willock to be brought back to the Emirates Stadium and handed a place in the first-team squad.
Meanwhile, Newcastle remain keen on bringing him back to the North East ahead of next season.
On Willock’s future, Steve Bruce has said: "Watching him play you can see a young player enjoying himself and enjoying the freedom that we've given to him, the licence to run forward.
"He's given us something which we certainly didn't have before.
"He's a very very good player. So I've said now for three or four weeks, we'd love to bring him back.
"He's Arsenal's player of course but let's hope we can test their resolve."
