Joe Willock's first words as he commits his future to Arsenal with long-term deal

Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock has signed up to a new deal with the Gunners understood to run until the end of the 2022/23 season.

The 20-year-old has emerged as an important first team squad player for Unai Emery after having impressed under Freddie Ljungberg in the Under-23s last season, and in the Carabao Cup and Europa League for the senior side.

Following the departure of Aaron Ramsey for Juventus on a free during the summer, the English youngster stands as the obvious replacement to the Welshman as a hard-working, attacking midfielder able to break through the lines with his running on and off the ball.

Speaking to the club's official website after agreeing his contract, Willock emphasised how much it meant to play for the team he was supported since he was a child.

"To be at this club is amazing feeling and I've always wanted to play for the Arsenal first team," he told Arsenal.com .

"Now I'm doing that, since the age of four and a half, it's always been my dream. And to sign a new contract today is a brilliant feeling for me and my family.

"As a young boy growing up through the academy, I've always wanted to play at the Emirates and play in front of the fans and stuff. So to do it, it's only right in my heart and my mind to know that this is the right club for me. And to carry on my own future here is brilliant."

Willock is one of three brothers who are all professional footballers.

Chris Willock left Arsenal in 2017 to join Benfica and is currently on loan at West Bromwich Albion.

Matty Willock moved to Manchester United in 2012 and was sent on a number of loans across Europe before signing for Gillingham permanently this summer.

Hopes are high for Joe Willock and his chances of building a successful career at the Emirates Stadium with the youngster having already been trusted to start against Newcastle United, Burnley and Liverpool this season.
