Joe Willock's comments sum up his mindset ahead of possible Newcastle United transfer

Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock remains in talks with Newcastle United over a loan deal until the end of the season.

The talented midfielder is thought to be edging closer to a temporary move to St James’ Park, with manager Steve Bruce keen to add loan players to his squad before the 11pm deadline.

Willock has featured just seven times in the Premier League this season for the Gunners, but has made five outings in the Europe League, scoring three goals.

At 21-years-old, Willock is beginning to become more of a first-team player, but is yet to become a regular at the Emirates.

Given what the player himself said back in the summer, he is ready to make the step up and become a regular member of a first-team and that could be at Newcastle for the second half of this season.

"Personally for me, I feel the jump is 80 per cent mental and 20 per cent about the physical and different attributes," Willock told the club’s website back in June.

"I feel when you make the jump you go from being a senior player in the academy to being a person who is just a little boy, a little fish in a massive sea and you have to float.

"There's big sharks you have to deal with, that have been playing there for years, with massive experience, so in your head you have to come to grips with dealing with that as soon as possible to survive.”
