Joe Willock becomes Newcastle United's 'most attractive player'-pushing Matt Ritchie off the top spot

Newcastle United's new signing Joe Willock has been ranked the squad's "most attractive player" pushing winger Matt Ritchie off the top spot.

As the 2021/22 Premier League season kicks off, Footballbreak.co.uk is hoping to finally put to bed the age-old question of who is the most attractive footballer.

Using science, they conducted a study of 582 players’ facial features and applied the golden ratio, a mathematical symmetry algorithm, that influences the human perception of attractiveness.

They then issued every player with a final percentage score with those closest to 100% deemed the most attractive player.

These percentage scores were then tallied and ranked to reveal the most attractive Premier League footballers overall, as well as the most attractive players per Premier League team.

Joe Willock became a Newcastle United player last week ending a summer of uncertainty around his future, completing a £25m move to return to St James' Park.

And his arrival means he has been crowned the most attractive player in the squad with an attractiveness score of 88.10% out of 100%.

The title previously belonged to Matt Ritchie who was awarded a final percentage score of 85.32% for his facial features.

Overall, Joe Willock is the 9th most attractive player in the entirety of the Premier League, the study also found.

Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Jakub Moder was ranked the most handsome player with a golden ratio percentage of 90.82% out of 100.

He's closely followed by Watford F.C'.s Kiko Femenía with a golden ratio of 90.40% and Philip Zinckernagel with a golden ratio of 89.75% who is currently on a season loan to EFL Championship Nottingham Forest from Watford F.C.

Out of the 20 Premier League clubs, Norwich City is considered the 'sexiest' with the most attractive players as it tops the ranks with the highest average golden ratio (67.47%) followed by Manchester United (65.45%).

From the overall top 20 players alone, Watford F.C. dominates the ranking as the club with the most ‘attractive’ players with four players on the board and comes in third place.

Newcastle United is ranked 6th place with an average golden ratio of 63.73%.
