Joe Wicks to donate every penny earned from daily YouTube PE lessons to the NHS

Joe Wicks will donate every penny earned from his daily PE lessons on YouTube to the NHS.

The 33-year-old fitness coach shared a message of thanks on social media after children across the country joined his online classes.

He put himself forward to be the 'nation's PE teacher' after schools were ordered to shut by the government to help tackle the further spread of coronavirus.

Dad-of-two Joe said he was 'overwhelmed' by the support.

Almost a million people have tuned in each day at 9am for his 30 minute workout.

Joe - known professionally as The Body Coach - said: "Words can't express how happy and proud I have felt every day this week as the nation's PE teacher.

"I’ve been overwhelmed with the response and the support it's had from everyone.

"As a result of so many people viewing the #PEWithJoe workouts on YouTube the advertising revenue generated has been unlike anything I've seen or experienced on my channel before.

"So I've decided that as long as I’m the nations P.E. teacher, every single penny of the money generated on these videos is going to the place where we need it the most right now. All of it is going straight to the NHS, to support the real heroes right now."

He added: "Thank you for watching, joining in and sharing… I’m loving being your P.E. Teacher and now you can watch again, knowing you’re not only staying fit, you’re also helping raise money for the NHS. See you Monday at 9am".

The fitness was praised by thousands of people.

One person replied: "You are an absolute gem of a person."

Another said: "This is the nicest thing I’ve seen in a long time."

A parent replied: "Joe you’re amazing. In a time when the kids (as well as adults) are confused and it would be so easy to feel sad you bring us a fun, positive start to the day. To know that you’re donating the money is amazing."

You can join in with his next lesson at 9am on Monday, March 30 via this link here.
