Joe Wicks announces plans to end lockdown PE lessons

Internet fitness star Joe Wicks has today announced he will be ending his lockdown PE lessons, which have kept millions of people moving since March.

Speaking to Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, the fitness guru said he needs "a break to re-energise", adding that the final episode of his live YouTube workouts will be on July 22.

It comes after he scaled back his morning family sessions in June due to a decline in viewers.

The sessions had been going five days a week since March, even during the Easter and half term holidays. When he first started, more than a million people tuned in each day.

But the Body Coach says he is now preparing for the final episode after 18 straight weeks of classes.

He told Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway: "18 weeks, 18 solid weeks and 75 million views."

Sharing his reasoning for wrapping up the video series, Joe said: "It is emotionally quiet draining."

He added: "I have had piles of letters, parcels and cards from children.

"I had a wave of emotion - I've had not just stuff from kids but 70 year olds people and others with autism.

"I know it sounds intense but it was emotional."

But giving fans hope that his workouts are not over forever, he continued: "I will be back and doing PE With Joe in blocks and keeping the legacy.”
