Joe Vardon: ‘LeBron does not want to play anywhere else’

Despite the current turmoil surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers, all appears to be well with LeBron James and his decision to move to California last summer. During a recent appearance on the Tampering podcast with Sam Amick, Joe Vardon of The Athletic reported that James is very happy with his decision to move to Los Angeles. He went on to add that he would be shocked if LeBron had any interest in playing anywhere else for the remainder of his career.

“He is so happy to be living in Los Angeles,” Joe Vardon told Sam Amick on The Athletic’s Tampering podcast this week. “His family is so happy about this. Bronny is going into high school. This is where they want to be. LeBron does not want to play anywhere else. I would be shocked if at any point for the remainder of his career so long as LeBron James Jr. is in high school in the Greater Los Angeles area that he would have any interest in playing anywhere else. He wants to make this work.”

Vardon covered James during his time in Cleveland as a Cavs beat reporter for Cleveland.com. It’s likely he’s connected with LeBron’s camp as a result of their time together during those years. It’s also likely that this message being put out by those close to James are in direct response to the suggestions by some analysts and observers that LeBron made a mistake in choosing the Lakers and that he may want to be traded. From what Vardon’s reporting, it would seem LeBron’s choice was about much more than just basketball. His family is enjoying Los Angeles and that’s the most important thing for LeBron at this point in his career.
