Count Browns legendary left tackle Joe Thomas as a believer in Greg Robinson.
In an interview with Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com, the venerable veteran praised his eventual 2018 replacement. Thomas said of Robinson,
“Greg did such a great job.”
Robinson salvaged his career with a strong turn in pass protection once he took over for overwhelmed rookie Desmond Harrison. Thomas took note of how well Robinson filled in.
“I think he understood how Baker Mayfield played, how he needed his left tackle to play,” Thomas continued. He also intimates the Browns are definitely looking at bringing Robinson, who is an unrestricted free agent, back to the team.
“To be able to step in and play as well as he did is not an easy thing, especially at that position and especially for a guy that’s kind of bounced around the league a little bit and hadn’t found his role and his niche. He did an amazing job, and I can’t wait to see what he looks like next year with a full offseason of preparation.’’
