Joe Thomas breaks down Myles Garrett in his latest film room session

Former Browns offensive tackle Joe Thomas has released the latest installment of his film room session via the Browns’ YouTube channel. Thomas and Andrew Gribble have a great subject in this one: current Browns standout EDGE Myles Garrett.

The retired All-Pro left tackle leads the discussion off with an anecdote from one of the first practice sessions with Garrett and the incredible speed and hustle the then-rookie showed to chase down a running back from behind some 60 yards down the field.

The first clip Thomas and Gribble break down is a perfect epitome for how special Garrett is as a pass rusher. No. 95 can get so low with his shoulder dip and still accelerate out of it faster than most ends. Thomas compares it to Olympic speed skater Apolo Ohno and it’s easy to see why. Watching Garrett blow past Steelers left tackle Alejandro Villanueva even when the big man has decent position on him is fantastic.

It’s a great watch. Hearing Thomas talk about how well Garrett learned and how hard he worked in practice and the weight room is very encouraging for Browns fans.
