Joe Thomas applauds John Dorsey for the Duke Johnson trade

Joe Thomas joined the Browns broadcast booth during the preseason opener against Washington, and the legendary left tackle weighed in on the Duke Johnson trade.

Thomas played with Johnson and has been complimentary to the running back, but he really likes the trade. Cleveland dealt Johnson, the team’s third-string RB, to the Houston Texans for a 4th-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. The pick escalates to a third-rounder if Johnson is active for 10 games with the Texans this year.

“Really good value by (Browns GM) John Dorsey to get a fourth-round pick — probably a third-round pick — for a running back who has never really been a featured back,” Thomas proclaimed. “That’s pretty impressive, especially in today’s NFL where they really value draft picks — in my opinion almost too much.”

He concluded,

“That’s really an amazing job by John Dorsey.”
