Joe Swash's hidden tribute to Caroline Flack in Dancing On Ice final

Dancing on Ice viewers may have missed Joe Swash's hidden tribute to Caroline Flack in the final.

Tonight, Joe was crowned the 2020 champion, after beating fellow contestants Perri Kiely and Libby Clegg.

Joe performed one new routine, his favourite from the show and then Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean's bolero.

During his first routine, Joe took inspiration from silent films and Charlie Chaplin.

However, viewers may not have seen the sweet tribute to his friend Caroline in the background, reports the M.E.N.

But before the ITV show even started, the former Eastenders actor said that a poster featuring the words 'Be Kind' would feature as part of the set for his skate.

He said: "Today we're doing the showcase, and we've got this structure here.

"I asked them if they could put the words 'Be Kind' on a poster.

"Obviously we lost Caroline, and we're going to try and spread the word. We need everyone to be kinder."

Dancing On Ice paid tribute to Caroline just 24 hours after her tragic death was announced.

Last month, the day after news of Caroline Flack's death broke, a clearly devastated Joe, following his performance, told presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby: "It's been a really tough day."

He added: "I just want to send my love to her family and my condolences."

While holding on to Joe's arm, a supportive Alex Schauman said: "This was really hard for him to get through, to do a happy number when he feels the way that he feels.

"I am so proud of him."

Viewers of that episode also saw Phillip visibly choked up as he opened that show, saying: "We'd like to begin tonight's show by taking a moment to remember Caroline Flack in light of yesterday's awful news."
