Joe Swash doing Dancing On Ice so he can avoid 4am night feeds - but fears injury

Joe Swash will be getting his skates on next year as he has joined the Dancing on Ice 2020 line-up.

The cheeky former EastEnders actor is swapping the hot Australian jungle for the freezing cold ice rink - having stepped down from presenting the I'm A Celebrity spin-off show after 10 series.

The exciting news was revealed on Friday's Loose Women when Joe came skating into the studio while holding on to a polar bear and nearly fell over.

Joe, who recently become a dad again after Loose Women panelist Stacey gave birth to adorable baby Rex, said he would be giving up doing the 4am night feeds.

Joe admitted it had "been a while" since he had picked up a woman and he hadn't done any exercise since Rex was born.

On joining the show, Joe said "I can't even dance on a dance floor so Dancing on Ice is just a silly idea! I've done no exercise since the baby was born. Stacey thinks it's funny. I'm going to learn how to skate and I'll do it with a smile on my face."

Nadia Sawalha and Saira Khan, who have both taken part in the skating show, gave Joe a warning about getting injured.

On getting injured, he jokingly replied: "I'm thinking it's going to be my worst enemy or a god send."

Admitting he hopes that he won't be in a plaster cast for Christmas, Joe added: "Doing Dancing On Ice falls in a nice place. I can do my training and go home to my son."

Joe is the eighth celebrity to be officially confirmed to be taking part in Dancing On Ice next year.

He joins Love Island finalist Maura Higgins, TV presenter Michael Barrymore and football pundit Kevin Kilbane.

Back in July, Joe announced he was stepping down from his presenting duties on I'm A Celebrity: Extra Camp to take to spend more time with partner Stacey Solomon and their kids.

Both Joe and co-host Scarlett Moffat, who started hosting in 2017 after being crowned Queen of the Jungle, revealed they were leaving on the same day.

Joe announced the news on Instagram with a picture of himself walking across the famous bridge after becoming King of the Jungle.

The caption read: "I can’t believe I’m about to say this... For 10 incredible years I’ve been lucky enough to host my favourite show on telly. Being a part of the I’m a Celebrity After Show has been everything I could have dreamed of and more.

"But I’ve come to the decision that this year I’m going to have to leave my jungle family and stay home with my wonderful real family. I don’t want to miss a second with Stacey and our amazing boys so 3 months in Australia just seems too make to bare this year.

" @antanddec thank you boys for showing me how it’s done and keeping me on my toes I’ll be watching every night missin ya both!

"Well It’s not goodbye forever but just for now. Thanks for the memories @imacelebrity it’s been emotional.
