Joe Schobert has been the best off-ball LB in the NFL this preseason

Joe Schobert was hard to miss in the Cleveland Browns’ third preseason game. The linebacker was everywhere the football was during the first half of the contest.

Schobert logged five tackles and made two plays in coverage to force incompletions, including a breakup. That’s high productivity for just 36 snaps. It builds upon a brief preseason debut against the Colts where he played just eight snaps after sitting out the opener. In fact, it was impactful enough that Schobert shot to the top of the Pro Football Focus off-ball (not pass-rushing) linebacker grades for the entire preseason.

His 92.4 mark for the preseason is the best of any off-ball LB according to PFF,

It’s only the preseason, of course. But it’s a good sign that Schobert is healthy and getting back to his Pro Bowl form of 2017, when he was also one of the best at his position.
