Joe Schobert agrees to sign a 5-year deal with Jaguars

Joe Schobert has cashed in as a free agent. The ex-Browns linebacker has agreed to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars, news that was first reported by Ian Rapoport from NFL.com.

The deal is for five years and $53.75 million once it’s finalized on Wednesday. Per Rapoport, Schobert will get a $12 million signing bonus and $22.5 million fully guaranteed. The $10.75 million per year average is about $1 million per year lower than the deal Cory Littleton agreed to with the Raiders.

Pre-free agency projections had Schobert earning more than this deal. The Browns were not interested in paying to keep around their leading tackler and one of the best coverage LBs in the NFL over the past three seasons.

Schobert and his wife recently celebrated the birth of their child over the weekend.
