Joe Savage hails Hearts appointment as Eva Olid makes move to Tynecastle club

Eva Olid has been appointed as the new head coach of the Hearts Women's team after Andy Kirk left the job.

And Joe Savage has hailed her as the stand out candidate and admits he’s very excited to get her on board.

The Spaniard replaces Kirk who left the job to join Brechin City and Olid will now join up with the SWPL1 club.

Hearts had a difficult season in the top flight but stayed up after league reconstruction and they hope Olid will be able to guide them to more success.

She spent the last 18 months as head coach of the Catalan FA and previously managed in the US and in Spain.

But Savage is now excited to bring her to the Tynecastle club and said: “I’m delighted to welcome Eva on board.

“We had lots of impressive applications for the role but Eva’s was the one that instantly stood out.

“She has a great pedigree and lots of experience, and she is also really passionate about the game.

“It’s an exciting appointment. In Eva, Hearts Women are getting a top operator and our players are, I’m certain, going to benefit massively not only from having a UEFA Pro Licence holder as their manager, but from Eva’s enthusiasm and the methods she will put into practice.”
