Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram beat Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares to win US Open men’s doubles title

Joe Salisbury defeated fellow Brit Jamie Murray as he and his partner, Rajeev Ram, won the US Open men’s doubles title.

London-born Salisbury and Ram beat Murray and his partner, Bruno Soares, 3-6 6-2 6-2 in Friday’s final in New York.

The Grand Slam title is the second of Salisbury’s career, who also won the doubles title with Ram at the 2020 Australian Open.

Salisbury finished runners-up at the Australian Open this year, but he has gone one better at the US Open.

Murray and Soares had looked on course for victory after winning the first set, however Salisbury and Ram fought back.

The fourth seeds eventually toppled their opponents, who were seeded seventh, and Salisbury was delighted with the victory.

“To have won this with Rajeev is amazing, a dream come true. He has been an incredible partner,” said Salisbury.

“We look forward to hopefully getting some more titles together.”

Salisbury is also into the last four of the mixed doubles with American partner Desirae Krawczyk.
