Joe Rogan Experience podcast to move to Spotify in exclusive deal

Joe Rogan has signed a reported $100m (£88m) deal with Spotify to make his podcast exclusive to the streaming service.

Rogan, who hosts one of the world’s most popular podcasts The Joe Rogan Experience, is reported by the Wall Street Journalto have struck the multi-year licensing deal with Spotify Technology SA.

As of 1 September, the podcast’s entire library will be available for free to Spotify users and Rogan will produce podcasts and accompanying videos for the platform as part of the new partnership.

Towards the end of the year, the show will be made exclusive to Spotify, meaning that listeners will no longer be able to tune in on platforms such as Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts or Stitcher.

Rogan’s YouTube channel will remain live, but reportedly won’t contain full episodes of the show.

Speaking about the move, Rogan explained: “It will be the exact show. I’m not going to be an employee of Spotify, we’re going to be working with the same crew, doing the exact same show.

“The only difference will be it will now be available on the largest audio platform in the world. Nothing else will change… We’re very excited to begin this new chapter of the JRE and I hope you’re there when we crossover.”

In a statement, the audio platform said: “While Spotify will become the exclusive distributor of JRE, Rogan will maintain full creative control over the show.”
