Joe Rodon's prediction for Tanguy Ndombele that will delight Tottenham supporters

Tanguy Ndombele can become an “elite player” and one of the biggest stars in the Premier League.

That is the message from Spurs defender Joe Rodon who says Ndombele’s wonder goal at Sheffield United was not a surprise to his teammates.

Rodon said: “He's a very top player and the goal doesn't surprise me to be honest because he does spectacular things in training all the time. I'm delighted for him.

“I think the club bought him for a reason.

"He's a top player and he's only going to get better and better, the more games he plays.

"Hopefully he becomes what we all think he can be – an elite player.”

Wales defender Rodon had his own difficult start at Tottenham because the ex-Swansea City defender arrived in October after the Europa League deadline and was also cup tied for the Carabao Cup.

But Rodon is feeding off the “winning mentality” which Jose Mourinho has instilled into the club and big players like Harry Kane and his Wales team mate Gareth Bale trying to spread across the dressing room.

Rodon added: “It was a bit frustrating not being eligible in Europa League and League Cup but I knew it was going to be like that.

"I've just got to keep working hard day, trying to show the coaching staff that I can be involved in the team much more often.

“We all want to give our best and do the job for the team. It starts with the gaffer trying to bring a winning mentality to us all.

"Gareth coming into the dressing room is going to have that much more experiences and Harry is going to win plenty of things.

"You bring that together, and we all want to be winners.”
