Joe Rodon reveals when Tottenham move started to develop and why he found it hard to concentrate

Joe Rodon has stated that he found it particularly hard to concentrate when playing for Wales against Bulgaria last month with his move to Tottenham inching closer.

Tipped to join Spurs on transfer deadline day with Jose Mourinho keen on adding a new centre-back to his squad, fans had to wait a further 11 days for the move to be finalised as the club took advantage of the bonus window which allowed Premier League and EFL clubs to do business.

Rodon has only made one substitute appearance for the team since his move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but he already seems to have made quite an impression on Mourinho and his coaching staff after taking Davinson Sanchez's place in the matchday squad for the last three league games.

Spurs have big hopes for Rodon over the coming years and all will be hoping that he can make the step up look rather easy after excelling for Swansea in the Championship.

Jose Mourinho press conference following 1-0 win vs West Brom

Speaking to the media on international duty ahead of Wales' friendly game against the United States on Thursday evening, the youngster opened up on trying his best to concentrate in the 1-0 UEFA Nations League win out in Bulgaria prior to his move and when exactly his transfer started to gather pace.

"It was the first Monday, the first deadline was when it started to develop," he explained, as reported by Wales Online.

"After Bulgaria it was basically non-stop. It was all kicking off. But I was delighted to get it over the line.

"It was quite hard, the Bulgaria game in particular was the hardest to concentrate.

"When I knew it was true and it was developing the way it was. It was quite hard to switch off. But we got the win and everything went well."

A move to a new team can be hard for anyone but what has helped Rodon settle in is having international teammates Gareth Bale and Ben Davies already at the club.

"It was probably way easier for me and me feel way more comfortable to go there knowing those two are there," he added. "They've both been unbelievable with me ever since I've been there. Not just them.

"All the players as well. It's made it so quick to settle in. I couldn't ask for any more than the support they've given me. Hopefully we can just carry on."

Ineligible for Tottenham's Europa League and Carabao Cup matches, Rodon will be hoping to add to his solitary appearance for the club when league action resumes after the international break.
