Joe Newell believes teaming up with Scott Allan can give the Hibs’ fans something to get really excited about next season.
The left-winger becomes Paul Heckingbottom’s third signing after the captures of Allan from Celtic and Barnsley’s Adam Jackson.
Newell, 26, has agreed a two-year deal in a free transfer from Rotherham, where he previously played with Allan.
Newell said: “Scott is a good talent with a lot of ability and he is a good guy.
“I’m looking forward to playing and sharing a dressing room. I’m a team player and try to excite people. I’m left-footed and like to try to create things.
“The manager wants to drive us up the pitch, to be creative in the middle and to carry the ball forward, something he felt was missing last season between the defence and attack.
“It was a big decision for me to leave home and come up here and I’m really happy. The manager spoke to me and explained how I would play in the team and it got to me straight away.”
Heckingbottom said: “We’re excited to get Joe over the line. He’s a threat out wide or inside and he’ll link up well with our other attacking players.”
Meanwhile Osijek are set to be priced out of a swoop for Florian Kamberi. No official bid has been tabled for the Swiss striker whose contract at Easter Road runs until 2021.
Hibs have no desire to sell Kamberi and it’s understood they would demand a high six-figure fee – likely to prove too steep for the Croatian side.
