The Cincinnati Bengals lost star running back Joe Mixon on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts to a foot injury.
Mixon left the game in the first half and met with trainers on the sideline while Giovani Bernard took over as the primary back. The team didn’t take long to announce he was questionable to return.
Mixon had rushed for a touchdown as part of the sprint to a 24-7 lead in the first half and had 11 carries under his belt overall before suffering the setback.
The Bengals had just two other backs active for Sunday’s game, but Samaje Perine and Bernard were more than capable of carrying the load. Should Mixon miss time beyond this week, it’d mean a bigger workload for Trayveon Williams at what is one of the roster’s strong spots on the depth chart.
