Joe Mixon leads the way for massive list of Bengals starting OTAs on rehab field

The Cincinnati Bengals aren’t exactly starting OTAs under Zac Taylor fully healthy.

Some of the stars working on side fields such as A.J. Green and Tyler Eifert aren’t a surprise. Joe Mixon, however, certainly is.

The Mixon surprise leads the full list of players working on rehab fields. ESPN’s Katherine Terrell provided the full list:

The Bengals are out here for OTAs for the first time under Zac Taylor. Among those not practicing and working on the rehab field are AJ Green, Joe Mixon, Tyler Eifert, Clint Boling, Ryan Glasgow, Carl Lawson, Mason Schreck, Rod Taylor and Rodney Anderson

It is only May and contact is prohibited anyway. Still, the Bengals are a year removed from injuries playing a big part in a derailed season.

Mixon’s issue is an unknown as of this writing. Clint Boling working on a side field might partially explain why the Bengals plan on starting Cordy Glenn at left guard and Jonah Williams at left tackle. When Boling returns, where he fits is hard to say.

Barring something unforeseen, the Bengals can expect to have Mixon and guys like Green back as late as the fall for training camp. But when this many guys start on a side field, it’s worth noting.
