Things are getting weird around the Cincinnati Bengals as the scouting combine gets underway.
Tuesday, a report broke suggesting the Bengals want to trade John Ross. It’s a bad idea for the team in many ways — and it sounds like running back Joe Mixon tends to agree:
Mixon has been one of the most outspoken players on the team over the past year or so. He’s recruited free agents, commented on the release of coaches, and guaranteed the playoffs.
That Mixon feels strongly on the Ross matter isn’t much of a surprise. Both are part of a new wave for the Bengals and arrived via the same draft class. Like anyone else, Mixon at the least knows the serious upside for both Ross and the offense if he remains on the team.
But this is the scouting combine, which draws the NFL together in one place and both rumors and negotiations happen. Again like everyone else, Mixon will just have to wait and see what happens.
