Joe Marler's brilliant interview after title heroics - "I don't know what I'm saying"

Joe Marler's hilarious interview went viral after the England prop helped Harlequins claim a first Premiership title for nine years.

Quins had trailed by five points going into the final seven minutes - but Louis Lynagh's two late tries saw them win 40-38, clinching the crown in dramatic style despite a late score from Exeter Chiefs.

And after a thrilling match in which the lead changed hands five times, a jubilant Marler gave a priceless interview on BT Sport .

Handed a bottle of champagne with the interview about to start, the man of the match joked: "Is that mine? About time, I've been waiting for that for ages.

Amid noisy celebrations at Twickenham, Marler then urged the interviewer to speak "louder" before aiming a "shush" at Quins fans.

Asked how it sounded to be a two-time Premiership winner, the 30-year-old said: "Good - it sounds better than a one-time winner!"

Marler has had a controversial career, and said he had a greater appreciation of his second title triumph than he had the first time around.

"I appreciate it - I've taken in every single moment today," he added. "At 21 I didn't have a clue what I was doing, in anything. And I can't really remember anything - not in a good way, I remember it in a bad way, do you know what I mean?

"This, it's another level. I'm so grateful."

Then as the noise level cranked up inside Twickenham, Marler screamed: "I don't know what I'm saying! It's loud noises!"

Quins had taken an unlikely route to title glory, having registered just two league wins under former coach Paul Gustard by the time he left in January.

They also had to come from 28-0 down to beat Premiership table-toppers Bristol in last week's semi-final.

Asked how the London club had turned their season around, Marler joked: "There's been a lot that's changed - I can't go through it all because, you know, you're on the clock and that...

"But the group of boys has got stronger and stronger and stronger, and the love for each other - massive.

"We started to believe in what we're about, in what we want to be.

"We don't do it the easy way - what happened at the end there? It's crazy!"
