Joe Lycett has sold just 150 tickets for Newcastle arena gig as he makes TV appeal for people to go

Joe Lycett has admitted he has sold just 150 tickets for his forthcoming show at Newcastle's Utilita Arena.

The comedian is all set to bring his new More More More: How Do You Lycett, How Do You Lycett tour to the famous Tyneside concert venue on September 21 next year.

But since they went on sale in the middle of last month, only 150 tickets have been sold, a fraction of the arena's 10,000 capacity.

Joe, known to millions of viewers as the host of hit BBC show The Great British Sewing Bee, made an open admission about the disappointing sales in Newcastle during an appearance on Lorraine on Friday.

Quizzing him on the matter, presenter Lorraine Kelly said that Newcastle had been "rather shy," so far, to which Joe replied: "Newcastle arena is a 10,000 seater....currently we are at 150 tickets sold Lorraine.

"So if anyone wants to come to the show maybe a trip to Newcastle would be nice."

Trying to be encouraging, Lorraine replied: "Well they know now you see so it'll be sold out very, very soon," before Joe joked: "You'll get very close to the stage; you may even end up on stage."

Tickets for Joe Lycett's More More More: How Do You Lycett, How Do You Lycett at the Utilita Arena are on sale now online from Ticketmaster, with prices starting at £41.50.

Joe's Utilita Arena show isn't his only trip to Tyneside next year. He will also take the stage at the much smaller Tyne Theatre & Opera House on May 7.

Tickets for that show are available now from Eventim.

Joe's first tour in years promises to be packed with more jokes, more comedy anecdotes and more inappropriate and arguably disturbing paintings, all in the hope of answering the age-old question: How do you Lycett? How do you Lycett?
