Joe Lolley's absence for Nottingham Forest against Peterborough United explained

Winger Joe Lolley failed a late fitness test which ruled him out of Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 victory over Peterborough United.

The 29-year-old had come off the bench in the Reds’ previous outing, against West Bromwich Albion.

But he was not included in the matchday squad as goals from James Garner and Ryan Yates secured three points at the City Ground.

A slight knock meant Lolley had to miss out, but boss Steve Cooper is hopeful he will train next week ahead of the trip to face Swansea City.

“He took a little training knock. It’s a pretty normal injury, nothing serious,” said Cooper.

“Hopefully he’ll be back in training Monday or Tuesday.

“He won’t miss too much, physically, because he had a strong training week, like everyone else.

“He had a fitness test this morning. I thought he’d be okay, but he didn’t manage to get through it.

“Fingers crossed he’ll be back in training early next week.”

Forest recovered from a flat first half to see off Posh, with both goals coming after the break.

It extended their unbeaten run to seven games. They also ended a sequence of three straight draws, and have still lost just once since Cooper took charge in September.
