Joe Lolley left out as Sabri Lamouchi reveals Nottingham Forest team to face Charlton Athletic

Joe Lolley was a surprise omission from Nottingham Forest’s starting XI for Wednesday night’s visit to Charlton Athletic.

The news will come as a bitter blow to Sabri Lamouchi, given Lolley’s impressive performance on Saturday in defeating Birmingham City in scoring the opener and setting up Lewis Grabban for the second.

It’s understood Lolley has a foot problem which he played through at the City Ground against the Blues, with the hope being he’ll be fit enough to play a part at Fulham on Saturday.

That was the one of two changes for Forest at The Valley, with Tiago Silva replacing Lolley and Carl Jenkinson coming in for Samba Sow for a league debut.

Former Addicks defender Jenkinson was handed a first start at right-back, with Matty Cash pushing further forward, while Silva got the nod after coming off the bench to set up Michael Dawson’s first goal in 15 years.

Elsewhere, Lamouchi kept faith with the side which performed so well in thumping the Blues.Lewis Grabban is on the hunt for his third goal in successive games, and will be supported by Sammy Ameobi and Silva in attack, with Ben Watson, Alfa Semedo and Cash in the middle of the park.

Aro Muric continues in goal, with Dawson, Joe Worrall and Jack Robinson along with Jenkinson completing the back four.

Sow drops to the bench and will be joined by John Bostock who could make his Championship debut in South London.

Tobias Figueiredo, Yuri Ribeiro, Rafa Mir, Brice Samba and Albert Adomah make up the rest of Lamouchi’s options off the bench.

Forest: Muric, Worrall, Robinson, Dawson, Jenkinson, Watson, Cash, Semedo, Silva, Ameobi, Grabban.

Subs: Samba, Ribeiro, Figueiredo, Bostock, Sow, Mir, Adomah
