Joe Lolley gives his verdict on Nottingham Forest's start to Championship season

Winger Joe Lolley wants to see Nottingham Forest build on what has been a “tough start” to the Championship season.

Sabri Lamouchi’s men have a point to show for their opening two games so far, having come up against teams expected to be in the promotion shake-up come the end of the campaign.

An opening day defeat to West Bromwich Albion at the City Ground was followed by a 1-1 draw at Leeds United last weekend, with a visit from Birmingham City to come this afternoon.

The Reds did register their first win under Lamouchi in midweek as they saw off Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup, and Lolley hopes that can prove to be the kickstart they need.

“I’d say from the two league games, I think a point or two is fair,” said the 26-year-old.

“I don’t think we did enough in either game to warrant winning them, but it was against two teams who are likely to be up there.

“Leeds showed their quality last year and they beat Bristol City away (in their first game). You’d expect them to be up there again.

“They are a quality team, so to come away with a point was a good result.

“West Brom was a game which could have gone either way; there wasn’t much in it – a freak goal. That was it really, that was what separated the sides.

“It’s a tough start and it’s one we’ve navigated through.

“Hopefully now we can look forward to picking up some wins.”

Both Forest and the Blues have new managers at the helm, with Pep Clotet having taken charge at St Andrew’s.

City beat Brentford in their first game and drew 1-1 at home to Bristol City last weekend.

“Every Championship game is tough and they’ve started well. They will be happy with four points from two difficult games,” said Lolley.

“They’ve as well and they are adapting to his ideas.

“It will be interesting to see how they’ve settled compared to last year.

“They were quite organised and physical last year, so I’d expect something similar. But I think they are trying to play a bit more football.

“It will be an interesting game – two teams who will be going for the win.”
