Joe Lolley delivers 'genuinely unbelievable' verdict on Nottingham Forest rising star

Nottingham Forest winger Joe Lolley was impressed with academy graduate Brennan Johnson from the moment he first started training with the senior team.

Johnson, 20, has hit the ground running for Forest, starting in all 11 Championship games this campaign, while scoring twice and claiming three assists along the way.

Reds teammate, Lolley is happy to see the 20-year-old back to his boyhood club, following his League One loan spell at Lincoln City.

He has been an important asset in contributing to Forest's fine form in recent weeks.

"I think he [Johnson] should have been with us for the last few years," Lolley told The Athletic. "I personally like him a lot from day one.

"It’s strange how quick he is. He runs as quick with the ball as he does without it, that’s so hard to do.

"I don’t know how he dribbles in so straight, in a line, as well. It’s genuinely unbelievable. His pace is such an asset.

"He is a great player and I thought that from the first moment he trained with us, a few years ago. But it is great to have him with us now and I am glad to see him impacting on games."

Johnson's current contract with Forest runs until June 2023 and there has been talk of a new deal for the youngster as he looks to continue his form under new head coach Steve Cooper.
