Joe Judge on social media reaction to Daniel Jones trip: ‘Internet is undefeated’

The social media world had an absolute field day with New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones after he tripped over his own feet and face-planted at the tail-end of an 80-yard run in Week 7.

Although the run itself was record-breaking and remarkable for a variety of reasons, all anyone will ever remember about it is how it ended.

Asked about the tweets, memes and social commentary on Friday, head coach Joe Judge summed things up perfectly.

“In terms of the social media part of it… I mean, look, the internet is undefeated,” Judge said, barely able to contain a laugh. “There’s funny things all over the place. You’ve just got to have a sense of humor and when someone sends you something or shows you something, you’ve got to be able to laugh at yourself sometimes.”

Judge admits the entire thing would be much funnier had the Giants won, but they didn’t. Because of that, he’d prefer to focus on the positive aspects of Jones’ franchise-record scamper.

“I thought he made a nice run. We’d like him to stay up and finish it. He stumbled, which is something you don’t want to happen,” Judge said. “Internally, that’s something we’ll eventually be able to laugh about.

“Right now, we’ll correct some technique and things. [Jason Garrett] made a good call at the right time. Dan did a good job as far as hiding that thing, disguising it and pulling it. [He] made a real nice run to get down there, it was a huge gain for the team and put us in position to score. And the team capitalized on it.”

Unfortunately, the Giants weren’t able to put the game away and an impressive Jones pass was dropped by tight end Evan Engram on a key third down late in the fourth quarter.

The Eagles were able to capitalize, scoring two touchdowns in less than 5:00 to secure an improbable win.

All the Giants were left with are the jokes being made at Jones’ expense.
