Joe Hart to Tottenham transfer backed as the 'perfect football move' for all parties

Joe Hart has been backed to thrive in his new environment at Tottenham despite seeing his stock fall significantly in recent seasons.

The former England international, who won five major trophies during 12 years with Manchester City, is closing in on a move to work under Jose Mourinho at Spurs, where he will battle with Paulo Gazzaniga as understudy to captain Hugo Lloris.

Hart's suitability for the role has been questioned following just three appearances during a disappointing campaign at Turf Moor, but Stan Collymore believes it makes "perfect sense" for all parties.

He wrote in the Mirror: "His professionalism will make the deal work for the club and the player.

"In the context of where we are, in a global pandemic, it's the perfect football move. It might be different if stadiums were full week in, week out and money was flowing but, as we know, that isn't the case.

"And, a bit like this one, I'm betting there will be a few, 'Wow, I didn't see that coming', transfers during this window."
