Joe Hart’s Tottenham shirt number after completing transfer

Joe Hart is a Tottenham Hotspur player.

The former England goalkeeper completed his transfer on Tuesday afternoon, having agreed a two-year contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Hart left Burnley at the expiration of his contract at Turf Moor at the end of the 2019/20 season, and becomes Tottenham’s second signing of the summer after the arrival of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The 33-year-old is likely to be used as cover for Hugo Lloris and Paulo Gazzaniga during his time at the club, with Michel Vorm leaving Spurs after the expiry of his contract at the end of the season.

Rob Guest and Lee Wilmot dissect Joe Hart to Spurs

"I'm here to help the team in any way I can, be it on the field, off the field, I'm here to try and push the club forward,” the new man told Spurs TV after signing.

"There's no getting away from it, it has been a difficult couple of years for me personally on the football field but I feel I have so much to give.

"I feel like I have a lot of quality and I obviously have a lot in the bank. I'm here to work as a team player, I always have been and always will be, whether my name is on the teamsheet or not.

"It's a squad effort and I know what it takes to win titles, I know what it takes to change a club's dynamic for the better.

“I have huge admiration for Hugo, one of the world's greatest goalkeepers, and I'm genuinely really excited to work with him, excited to push him and excited to learn from him."

With the number one shirt taken up by Hugo Lloris, Hart will have to settle for a different number at Tottenham.

The goalkeeper has a number of different squad numbers over the last couple of years. He wore number 21 during his time at Torino, 25 at West Ham and number 20 at Burnley.

But, if the Tottenham website is anything to go by, then Hart will be donning the number 12 this season.

As pointed out by fans on Reddit, that is the number that appears next to Hart’s name when ordering a goalkeeper shirt on the club’s official website.

Hart made just three appearances in all competitions for Burnley this season, but will be hoping that he gets more of a chance to show what he can do at Tottenham.
