Joe Hart makes brilliant Celtic gesture to Premiership star as he's named idol of opponent

Remi Matthews says it was brilliant to get the jersey of Joe Hart after a dramatic encounter between St Johnstone and Celtic.

The Saints number one and his Hoops opponents swapped shirts at the end of the contest which was decided by stoppage time drama. Alex Mitchell levelled things up in the 93rd minute but Ange Postecoglou's side won it 2-1 in the end thanks to a late goal by Giorgos Giakoumakis.

Hart is someone Matthews looks up to and he believes that since his arrival last summer, the former England stopper has been key to Celtic.

The St Johnstone stopper explained: "Joe Hart is someone who I have idolised and it was a pleasure to play against him. He makes big saves at important times, that’s what he’s always done. He’s been one of my role models. He’s one of the best keepers in Scotland. I spoke to him after and got his shirt, which was a nice gesture.

"I can’t thank him enough. I had always heard good things about him from down the road. Jack Butland (the Crystal Palace keeper) is good mates with him.

"He’s always spoke very highly of him. He brings presence and leadership as well as his ability as a goalkeeper. He was at the world’s best club, Man City.

"He was England’s number one for a long time. He was one of the best keepers, for me. He’s been a massive part of Celtic’s success.”
