Joe Hart is the Celtic clean sheet king as key fact shows former England star is getting back to his best

Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart tops the Scottish Premiership table when it comes to clean sheets as he gets his Parkhead career off to a flyer.

The 34-year old has six shut-outs from 12 league games so far which is two more than the chasing pack of Max Stryek, Zander Clark, Craig Gordon, Matt Macey and Craig Gordon.

Hart was brought to the Parkhead club after patience wore thin with £4.5 million signing Vasilis Barkas, with the Greek committing several high profile blunders.

There have been times this season where question marks have been asked of Hart and the Celtic defence, however numbers provided by the SPFL show the former England stopper is more than a capable safe pair of hands.

Hart arrived as one of the many summer signings under new boss Ange Postecoglou after a long time without regular week-to-week football, having endured disappointing spells at Tottenham and Burnley.

The experience of the 75-time capped England international was never in doubt though, with the 'keeper playing in the world's most prestige tournaments with his country and Manchester City.

The Celtic stopper made his 450th career league start during Celtic's 0-0 draw with Livingston at Celtic Park on Saturday, following the match Postecoglou said: "When I signed Joe, it wasn’t just because he’s an outstanding goalkeeper. I felt, the way it was with so many new players, that I had to bring some experience into the dressing-room.

“I needed someone to help Cal [Callum McGregor], who is a new skipper himself. And Joe has been a great influence from day one."

Hart will be desperate to continue his fine form when Celtic travel to Hungary to face Ferencvaros on Thursday night at the Groupama Arena in Budapest in the Europa League.

Celtic won the reverse Group G fixture 2-0 in Glasgow and a victory in Hungary would likely ensure a Europa Conference League spot at the very minimum.
