Joe Hart has embarrassing moment with Tottenham teammates Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Gareth Bale

Joe Hart has had an embarrassing moment with teammate Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg over the midfielder's name.

You would think the Tottenham goalkeeper would know his teammates' names inside-out, being used to barking out orders from the back, but it seems he has had some difficulties.

Hart, who arrived ahead of this season, has not quite got to grips with one name, in particular, with Hojbjerg's name escaping the England international.

Hart, Gareth Bale, Matt Doherty and Hojbjerg all took part in a word association game with Soccer AM's Adam Smith in association with bookmakers William Hill, and when the topic of Danish pastries came up, Hart wrote 'Piere', missing an 'r'.

Bale jumped in and pointed out that it was spelt wrong and Hart responded: "I don't know how to spell Hojbjerg, I don't know how to spell Pierre."

Hojbjerg then wrote on his board 'Jo Hard' and Hart saw the funny side, before he plunged himself into further embarrassment.

He replied: "I deserved that Pierre, It is incredibly easy Joe Hart. Pierre-Emmanuel Hojbjerg though."

Left amused by the situation, Bale said: "Emmanuel! He's Emmanueled you off! It's Emile!" Hart added: "Emile, sorry, sorry, that's what I mean. There you go, way off it!"

So it seems Danish names are not Hart's strong suit, but hopefully he won't get it wrong again after this slip-up.

Hart joined Spurs on a free transfer ahead of this season after leaving Burnley, signing a two-year deal to keep him at the club until the summer of 2022, and he has largely played back-up to Hugo Lloris during his time at the club so far.

Hojbjerg also joined the club ahead of this season, signing on a fee just shy of £15million from Southampton, and he has since gone on to become a key member of Jose Mourinho's starting XI.
