Joe Hart explains what Raheem Sterling has changed from his Liverpool FC days

Former Manchester City team-mate Joe Hart believes that Raheem Sterling has to cope with a lot of pressure after joining the club from Liverpool.

The England international has enjoyed a superb season at City and was in contention for the PFA Player of the Year award which has been won by Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk.

Sterling, 24, spent several seasons playing with Hart at the Etihad Stadium and the current Burnley goalkeeper believes that Pep Guardiola has got the best out of the forward.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Hart explained: “He was an amazingly talented footballer when he came.

"He came under a lot of pressure from Liverpool. He was a bit hit-and-miss under Manuel Pellegrini. He played in positions that he felt were not his strongest, but this manager has got the best out of him. His confidence is high.

Man City fans furious as Raheem Sterling 'misses out' on PFA Player of the Year

"There were always flashes of his excellent finishing, but speaking to Richard White, the coach at City , he doesn’t miss now. Top player."

Fellow pundit Graeme Souness also discussed the impact Sterling has had this season with the former manager of the belief that he's now the first name on the team-sheet.

He added: “He’s shown a maturity both on and off the pitch this season. He’s the first name on the team-sheet.

“He’s rapid, direct, brave and strong. He’s scoring goals and is on fire. He’s improved. He’s going to get better and better. He’s been fabulous.

"Okay, he’s had to deal with some nonsense on the pitch, but he’s dealt with that like a very experienced footballer and human being."
