Joe Gomez admits Liverpool's punishing fixture schedule is "relentless" - but says such a pile-up comes with the territory of aiming to win the biggest prizes in football.
The Reds' meeting with Southampton this weekend will be their fourth game this month following on from the Community Shield against Manchester City, the Premier League opener at home to Norwich and Wednesday's Super Cup clash with Chelsea .
The European champions travel to the south coast ahead of the 3pm kick-off on Saturday ahead of a further two games this month alone, at home to Arsenal and away at Burnley on August 24 and 31, respectively.
Liverpool 's participation in the Community Shield, Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in December will add a maximum four further fixtures on to what is already a hectic season for Jurgen Klopp's side.
Such a jam-packed schedule inside the first few weeks of the new season is merely the price of success however, for Gomez, who accepts it is a tough month for Klopp and his charges, travel-wise.
"It's relentless, but it's part and parcel if you want to be at the top," he said.
"You're going to play more games than anyone else and if you want to win things, you'll play more games, so we have to do it.
"Now it is about going again at the weekend.
"Every game in the Premier League is going to be a tough game, we know that and we have to be prepared for a tough one.
"We need to enjoy it and come tomorrow it is about recovery and going again.
"We're home [from Turkey] and then gone again and that is part and parcel. We're lucky to do what we do and we have to embrace it every game."
Gomez started Wednesday's Super Cup triumph against Chelsea as the Reds edged out the Londoners 5-4 on penalties in the European curtain raiser in Istanbul.
The versatile England international deputised at right-back in place of Trent Alexander-Arnold but maintained he sees himself as a central defender, long term.
He added: "Ideally, I think everyone knows my preferred, position, but I just get on with it.
"I will give my all wherever I play and that's all I can do. The injury [against Burnley last season] is behind me now."
