Joe Gomez details how he celebrated Liverpool's stunning Barcelona comeback

Liverpool star Joe Gomez has revealed that he was up until the early hours of the morning following the Reds' stunning 4-0 win over Barcelona last season- playing Monopoly.

Jurgen Klopp's side produced one of the most memorable comebacks of all time when they overcame a 3-0 deficit from the first leg to beat Barcelona 4-0 at Anfield in the Champions League semi-final on their way to winning the competition.

Gomez started the second leg on the bench but came on as a substitute for Divock Origi with five minutes to go and helped his side over the line.

And while many players may have celebrated the victory by going to a fancy nightclub or expensive restaurant, Gomez was at home playing his favourite board game.

In an interview with The Athletic Gomez and his best friend Aju Oluwo recounted the experience, and Gomez said: "I just enjoy sharing experiences with Aji and my friends.

"For example, it's nice coming home after Barcelona, a big experience like that, and thinking, 'We lived that together.'"

When Oluwo said they played Monopoly, Gomez added: "Yeah, we did. We were up until late. We watched the highlights first on YouTube. It was 4.23am!"

Gomez has become the Reds' first-choice centre-back along with Virgil van Dijk this season, and has been in superb recent form, helping his side keep a clean sheet in 11 of the last 13 games he has been involved in in the Premier League.

He was missing from the side that lost for the first time during the current campaign with a 3-0 defeat to Watford with a minor fitness issue, but he is fit again and available for selection for the FA Cup fifth round tie against Chelsea on Tuesday, with the Reds looking t o get back to winning ways after their shock defeat to the Hornets.
