Joe Girardi feels something of an A-void in the clubhouse with Alex Rodriguez now a former Yankee. But there is one part he doesn't miss: telling Rodriguez that he was not going to be in the lineup.
"The best part for me is that I don't have to face him with bad news every day," Girardi said Sunday. "That was hard for me because of my feelings for him. I still wish it would have been different and that he would have been extremely productive and we would have gotten to this point. That was not in the cards."
Rodriguez now reportedly is at home in Miami. He has not said if he would be receptive to joining another team this season or next. Rodriguez, 41, has 696 career home runs.
