Joe Flacco trade could open things up for Redskins

The Washington Redskins could end up winning thanks to the reported trade sending Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco to the Denver Broncos.

While the Redskins seemed like they could be potential suitors for Flacco, the salary cap and his contract made that unlikely.

What the reported trade does do though is possibly open up the first round a bit. Denver might not look at the position there, perhaps giving the Redskins a shot at one. That, or trades and a run on the position could flush prospects down to the Redskins they otherwise wouldn’t be able to draft.

And don’t forget Case Keenum possibly heading to free agency. He was bad in Denver but keep in mind he had excelled in a run-heavy approach in Minnesota, which Washington figures to use again next season.

As always in the NFL, the bigger moves have widespread impacts. With the Flacco trade, one of those affected could end up being the Redskins.
