Joe Flacco has already taken his physical with Broncos

Last week, the Denver Broncos agreed to trade a fourth-round draft pick to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for quarterback Joe Flacco. Though both teams have agreed to the deal, the trade will not become official until the new league year begins on March 13.

That didn’t stop the Broncos from bringing in Flacco for a physical examination. Flacco has already taken — and passed — his physical, clearing the way for the move to become official next month, according to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.

KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis and other media outlets have confirmed Breer’s report that Flacco has already taken a physical in Denver.

As Klis pointed out on Twitter, NFL rules allow teams to let players visit other teams for physicals during trade negotiations, even if the deal can’t become official before the new league year. If Flacco had failed his physical, the trade with the Broncos would have voided.
