Joe Flacco describes moment he found out he was going to Broncos

During his introductory press conference Friday, new Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco said he was “miserable” sitting on the bench with the Ravens last season. He knew the team planned to trade him this offseason but he didn’t know where he would end up landing.

Flacco then described the moment he found out he was on his way to Denver.

“I got the call, I think it was Wednesday morning (Feb. 13),” Flacco said. “I hadn’t heard anything about what might happen.”

Flacco said he got a call from the Ravens facility but didn’t answer because he figured they would leave a message. Then he got a call from the team’s general manager and answered.

“Two seconds later I got a call from Eric DeCosta and I quickly realized within the first 10 seconds of the conversation that he was about to tell me where I was going,” Flacco said. “When he finally said ‘Denver Broncos,’ my wife and I looked at each other as I was driving and just had big smiles on our faces. Like I said, if that’s what I had to go through to get where I am now, then I’m happy to have done it.”

Flacco and his wife, Dana, are happy to have a new opportunity in Denver. Flacco is two years younger than Peyton Manning was when he signed with the Broncos in 2012, and that deal certainly worked out well for all parties involved.
