Joe Exotic's prison 'denies hoarding letters' as Tiger King struggles in jail

The prison where Tiger King's Joe Exotic is being held has reportedly 'denied hoarding' the former tiger handler's letters.

The 57-year-old Netflix star is currently serving a 22-year sentence at Fort Worth in Texas for a murder for hire plot and animal abuses.

In recent days the former Oklahoma zoo owner - real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage - revealed that he hadn't received any communication and feared he would be 'dead in 2-3 months'.

According to TMZ, a representative from the Bureau of Prisons has since explained that the institution where Joe is being held had been under a temporary lockdown.

However, the publication noted that it formed part of a national lockdown across all the prisons where inmates temporarily had limited communication.

This week everything has gone back to normal and communications such as emails and phone calls have resumed, the source told TMZ.

A representative for Joe Exotic and the Bureau of Prisons has been contacted for comment.

The news comes as a response to a leaked letter from Joe Exotic where he claimed to be locked up '24/7' with no contact to a phone or email.

In Joe's original note, the Netflix star said he hadn't received any contact from his husband Dillon and that he has 'struggled everyday to hold onto hope'.

Since the letter was leaked, his husband Dillon, 22, shared a gushing tribute on social media and said he was 'outraged' by his husband's condition.

Dillon claimed he had tried to send letters to Joe, but they weren't making it through to him.

Yesterday Dillon wrote: "I’ve been writing letters and it is a shame to hear that he isn’t receiving them… I know they limit the amount he can read in a week and I only hope they eventually get to him."

Although Joe is serving 22-years in federal prison, the quirky character has remained hopeful that he could be released.

In his recent letter he even called on celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Cardi B to help his case.
