The New York Jets have yet to hire a general manager and the log jam in the interview process could prove valuable for one AFC South franchise on the upswing. According to Ian Rapoport, the Houston Texans have fired GM Brian Gaine.
Gaine reportedly just wasn’t good enough at his job and now the Texans are in search of a GM, and once pursued Joe Douglas during the Eagles playoff run.
Douglas is known as a rising star in the personnel department and the Eagles ability to trade ahead of the Texans on draft day to get Andre Dillard, while the Texans landed Tytus Howard, could have played a role in the dismissal.
Douglas played a big role in that choice to trade up for Dillard.
