Joe Cole sends Cristiano Ronaldo warning to Arsenal

Former Premier League playmaker Joe Cole believes Cristiano Ronaldo will lead Manchester United to Champions League qualification.

The Reds were forced to postpone their fixtures against Brentford and Brighton following a Covid-19 outbreak and won't play again until December 27.

Arsenal have now leapfrogged United into the top four after beating fellow European hopefuls West Ham.

However, despite the form of Mikel Arteta's side, the ex-Chelsea and Liverpool-man believes that the 36-year-old's quality will propel United into the final spot at Spurs, West Ham and Arsenal's expense.

Ronaldo scored the all-important goal last time out against Norwich as he made it seven for the season in the Premier League.

The former Juventus star has already proved his importance since his Old Trafford return scoring in all five of the Champions League clashes he featured in, with match-winning goals against Villarreal and Atalanta two of the standouts.

His brace against European challengers Arsenal helped Michael Carrick depart the Reds with a win as he stepped down to let Ralf Rangnick take interim charge of United.

Following the recent postponements in the league, wins in those games in hand will see them push past the Gunners.

"There’s so much to be positive about the goalkeeper is outstanding. Gabriel and White have got it together, they’ve really nailed it," Cole told Premier League Tonight on BT Sport.

"Then you’ve got the young lads. I think they’ll be there, or thereabouts. But if you ask me I think it’s going to be between Manchester United, Tottenham, West Ham and Arsenal.

"And I’d probably just go with United because of the Ronaldo factor because he’s such a genius and he guarantees you goals. He always turns up."
