Former Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole believes Manchester City’s draw with Newcastle United has handed the Reds the Premier League title.
City, despite twice leading at St James’ Park, were forced to settle for a point after Jonjo Shelvey’s late equaliser.
The result means that Liverpool have the chance to extend their lead over the reigning champions to 11 points if they overcome Brighton at Anfield.
And Cole insists the gap between the two sides will be too much for Pep Guardiola’s men to claw back.
“For Man City it is a different story. I think they have handed Liverpool the title here today,” Cole told BT Sport in the immediate aftermath to City’s draw.
“I think it is too much. Liverpool will probably win today and 11 points will be too much for them to get back.”
