Chelsea legend Joe Cole has identified what he believes was a significant mistake on Frank Lampard's behalf during the Blues' 2-2 draw with Valencia in the Champions League.
Carlos Soler opened the scoring for the hosts before Mateo Kovacic swiftly equalised with his first goal for the club, with Christian Pulisic handing Chelsea the lead in the second half before Daniel Wass' equaliser.
Knowing that a victory would send them into the knockout stages of the Champions League, Chelsea pushed for a winner late on but this left them exposed.
Daniel Parejo had plenty of room to work with in the Valencia midfielder and Cole believes that this could have been avoided if Jorginho was not substituted, adding he would have added a calm head to Chelsea's ranks.
"I really think not having Jorginho on the pitch for the last 20 minutes, when they needed a clear head [was a mistake]. Parejo was getting on the ball, maybe that's where Jorginho would have stepped onto him, just for five minutes,”" he told BT Sport.
"Everything was coming through him and Valencia were building up a bit of steam.
"We talked about the crowd at the start of the game, you could hear it in the studio, the crowd was getting into it and right behind them because a win for them and they're through, so they needed a clearer head for the final 20 minutes."
